About
I graduated as Dux of my high school in 2018 with an OP1 Field Position 1, which is equivalent to an ATAR of 99.95. I was awarded the Caltex Best All Rounder Award, Moreton English Medal, as well as subject awards for four out of my six subjects, Modern History, English, Extension English, and Biology. I was also a Griffith Honours College Member for the duration of my university study. I was also awarded the Sir Samuel Griffiths Scholarship, as well as the Aspiring Teachers Grant in 2019. During my first year of university I was awarded the Griffith Award for Academic Excellence. I am also a lifetime member of the Golden Key International Honour Society.
I am only one credit away from completing my teaching degree as a Secondary English, Psychology and Science teacher. I am currently taking a break from uni and have discovered my passion is for one-on-one learning that fosters the student's ability to develop successful learning tools. I think that learning is most effective when individual support is provided and tailored to the learner. I am most passionate about equipping students with the tools to learn and empowering them to be lifelong learners. I have been tutoring across primary, middle school, secondary and university since 2016 (8 years), both through different school programs and independently. I have found great joy in helping my students succeed, not only as evidenced by their improved results, but ultimately through their improved ability to learn. My teaching style is tailored to the needs of each individual I tutor, and my goal is always to help them learn how to learn, as well as helping them to achieve their learning goals. As an almost fully qualified teacher :), I have a wealth of experience in developing lessons, content and learning resources to aide in student learning. I have worked in schools for a number of years and am a friendly, personable and accessible tutor who wants to see every student I encounter succeed to the fullest of their potential, not only academically, but holistically.
Below are a few testimonials from some former students of mine about their experiences with my services.
"Kahrie was always available to help me with my final assessments of my Bachelor of Education degree. She helped me drastically improve my GTPA and final assignment while I was managing a full time training load. She broke down the information for me in a way that I could comprehend it. She worked with me every week, sometimes multiple times a week if I needed it and was always flexible. Kahrie made it very easy by not judging at all and was helpful beyond belief. "

"Kahrie was my tutor from year 10 to 12. She was very patient with me when I was struggling to understand. She was great at finding new ways to teach me hard to grasp concepts. She empowered me and I feel like getting into university was in large part due to her guidance."
